VPA302 Industry and Internship Experience (8)
Abstract|
Students will undertake, where appropriate, an industry internship placement, or a directed research project in a selected area of expertise documenting their activities and findings, or a discipline specific public showing. The internship attachment, research project or public showing will allow the student to further enhance their skill base and understand appropriate production practices through practical experience and exposure to a creative industry operation. This will also allow students to build valuable industry contacts. Students choosing the research path will analyse and document a selected organisation valued by their discipline and students choosing the public showing pathway will create an entity valued by their discipline. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- have spent a minimum of 14 days as a intern in a relevant professional discipline environment or have critically analyzed and documented a discipline specific organisation or practically demonstrated the development, creation and implementation of a public showing;
- have developed skills to operate successfully in a discipline specific professional work environment;
- be able to demonstrate the application of appropriate work ethic and effective communication skills;
- have developed a network of industry or research contacts;
- understand the process of working as a sole trader, a freelance operator or company owner; and
- be able to demonstrate the successful synthesis of discipline specific research and skill execution.
