Abstract

This subject is designed to enable the student to demonstrate the ability to apply and synthesise technical and conceptual knowledge through research into contemporary and historical arts practices including drawing, design, new media, animation, jewellery and photography. The outcome will be a focused body of new work(s) in their second major area of study when completing a double degree.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate the ability to exercise reflective and critical judgement as it applies to their selected field of study
- be capable of working collaboratively and independantly in challenging current arts and design practices through the use of appropriate technologies
-be able to demonstrate an understanding of the position of their selected major field of study nationally and internationally

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
- The role of historical and contemporary visual outcomes in the development of innovative new works - Research and research methodologies in the production of innovative visual art/design outcomes
