Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
* have an understanding of the difficulties experienced in defining rural and remote; * be able to describe various service delivery models; * be familiar with the differences between providing welfare services to metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas; * be able to appreciate that policy impacts upon the rural environment in ways that may not always be apparent to urban-based policy makers; * have an understanding of the major issues faced by a number of rural groups or communities, for example: rural poverty and disadvantage, farm families, rural unemployment, rural elderly, women and rural youth; * more effectively and efficiently apply themselves to the position should they be employed as a rural human services worker. |
