Admission Criteria

CSU Admission Policy

Selection for entry to the Bachelor of Dental Science is a two stage process with applicants first being selected for interview based on UMAT (Undergraduate Medical Admissions Test) score (domestic students) or GPA (international applicants). Following interview, applicants will be selected for offer based on a combination of UMAT score and interview outcome. The minimum UMAT score to be considered for an interview is an overall percentile score of 50, with at least 50 in each of the three constructs. When ranking applicants for an offer ATAR/GPA may be used to rank applicants with identical UMAT scores.

The following selection criteria will be adopted when assessing applicants:
1. A demonstrated interest in, and understanding of, rural and regional Australia, oral health inequalities, and dental practice within these regions.
2. High level academic ability.
3. The capacity to communicate effectively.
4. Evidence of skill in manual dexterity and spatial sense.
5. Evidence of the understanding of teamwork and motivation to become a dental practitioner.
6. Evidence of community involvement

Each year at least 25% of places will be set aside for applicants who have a significant rural background or who are Indigenous applicants.  Applicants who wish to apply for one of these places will submit an additional form which details their eligibility for this pathway.

English language requirements also apply. An Academic IELTS of 7.0 with no score below a 6.5 in each of the individual skill areas or a qualification deemed equivalent.
