Admission Criteria

Bachelor of Health Science (Leisure and Health)

Applicants for the Bachelor of Health Science (Leisure and Health) must meet the following requirements:

NSW  Higher School Certificate or interstate/overseas equivalent withan ATAR of 65 (inclusive of bonuses)
OR
Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies
OR
A completed or a completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification
OR
A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
OR
50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification

AND

English Language Proficiency

Credit

CSU Credit Policy

Bachelor of Health Science (Leisure and Health)

Students may be granted credit for unrestricted elective subjects based upon prior tertiary study or relevant work experience. Any applicant having practised in a relevant field for two or more years would be eligible for up to four subjects credit. Applicants with prior tertiary study in a relevant field may gain specific subject credit.

Associate Degree in Health Science (Leisure and Health) [Exit Point Only]

Students who request to exit with the Associate Degree in Health Science (Leisure and Health) and have worked for more than two years may be eligible for subject credits. These would be from the unrestricted elective and/or restricted elective sequence and experience would need to be commensurate with credit sought.

Students would need to demonstrate in writing, and with other supporting documentation, how their work experience demonstrates competence in the subjects for which credit may be sought. In addition applicants with prior tertiary study including TAFE may gain credit for restricted elective subjects where there is evidence of commensurable study.

Other additional advanced credit will be determined on an individual basis including subject for subject credit for prior university subjects.

Articulation

The Bachelor and Associate Degree [Exit Point Only] make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 192 points.

Associate Degree in Health Science (Leisure and Health) [Exit Point Only]

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 128 points.

Course Structure

The Bachelor of Health Science (Leisure and Health) course consists of 192 points. Students may choose one of two strands. The Diversional Therapy strand consists of 13 core subjects (104 points), a restricted elective sequence of 6 subjects (56 points) and 4 unrestricted electives (32 points). The Community Leisure and Health strand consists of 13 core subjects (104 points), a restricted elective sequence of 7 subjects (56 points) and 4 unrestricted electives (32 points).
