Applicants for the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (Arts) must meet the following requirements:

*          An ATAR of 70 (including adjustment factors)
OR
*          Successful completion of two university-level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies
OR
*          A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification
OR
*          50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification
OR
*          Successful completed of a Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
OR
*          Two years full-time (or equivalent) work experience that meets the following requirement: the ability to demonstrate the development of literacy, analytical skills, and social-historical knowledge.

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 192 points.

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 128 points.

University Certificate in Liberal Studies (Arts) [Exit Point Only]

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

Course Structure

BACHELOR OF LIBERAL STUDIES (ARTS)

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 192 points (normally equal to 24 subjects).

" Students must satisfactorily complete COM120 Reasoning and Writing.
" Students must satisfactorily complete 1 indigenous studies subject - either IKC101 or IKC102.
" Remaining subjects are chosen from within the Faculty of Arts & Education, with up to 8 subjects (64 points) taken from outside the Faculty of Arts and Education if desired.
" Students must do no more than 10 x Level 1 subjects (80 points) and at least 5 x Level 3 subjects (40 points).

ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN LIBERAL STUDIES (ARTS) [exit point only]

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 128 points (normally equal to 16 subjects).

" Students must satisfactorily complete COM120 Reasoning and Writing.
" Remaining subjects are chosen from within the Faculty of Arts & Education, with up to 6 subjects (48 points) taken from outside the Faculty of Arts and Education if desired.
" Students must do no more than 8 x Level 1 subjects (64 points) and at least 4 x Level 2 subjects (32 points).

UNIVERSITY CERTIFICATE IN LIBERAL STUDIES (ARTS) [exit point only]

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 64 points (normally equal to 8 subjects).

" Students must satisfactorily complete COM120 Reasoning and Writing.
" Remaining subjects are chosen from within the Faculty of Arts & Education, with up to 3 subjects (24 points) taken from outside the Faculty of Arts and Education if desired.

Enrolment Pattern

It is not possible to specify an enrolment pattern. Students must complete COM120 Reasoning and Writing. Apart from this requirement, students will receive written advice from Course Coordinators about the subjects that best suit their needs and interests. It will be the students' responsibility to select subjects based on this advice, subject availability, prerequisites, co-requisites and/or enrolment restrictions.
