Course Structure
Graduate Certificate of Nursing (with specialisation)
The Graduate Certificate in Nursing comprises 32 points and is offered part-time online over two sessions or one year. The course will develop students knowledge, skills and attributes through the study of clinical and professional nursing studies. During the first year of study students enrol in subjects in a particular specialty area. Subjects where residential schools are a compulsory requirement are not available to international students.
Graduate Diploma of Nursing (with specialisation)
The Graduate Diploma of Nursing comprises 64 points and is offered part-time online over four sessions or two years. During the first year of study students enrol in subjects in a particular specialty area (32 points).
In the second year of the Graduate Diploma of Nursing all students enrol in the core 16 point subject NRS531 Critical Inquiry and Evidence Based Nursing Practice. Students choosing the Master of Nursing (no specialisation) pathway will also enrol in 16 credit points of electives, while students choosing the Master of Nursing (specialisation) pathway will be required to enrol in the two core research subjects HLT505 Research Methods in Health Science A and HLT506 Health Master's Project. Study in these two research subjects will focus the students learning on understanding research methodologies, developing research questions, critiquing research literature, undertaking a comprehensive literature review, developing a research proposal and submitting an ethics application. Subjects where residential schools are a compulsory requirement are not available to international students.
Master of Nursing (no specialisation)
The Master of Nursing (no specialisation) will comprise 96 points and will be offered part-time online over six sessions or three years. During the first year of study students choose 32 points of electives.
In the second year of the Master of Nursing (no specialisation) all students will enrol in the core 16 point subject NRS531 Critical Inquiry and Evidence Based Nursing Practice as well as 16 points of electives.
In the third year of the course students will enrol in a further 32 points of electives.
Master of Nursing (with specialisation)
The Master of Nursing (with specialisation) will comprise 96 points and will be offered part-time online over six sessions or three years. During the first year of study students will enrol in 32 points of subjects in their chosen specialty.
In the second year students will enrol in the core subject NRS531 Critical Inquiry and Evidence Based Nursing Practice (16) as well as HLT505 Research Methods in Health Science A (8) AND HLT506 Health Master's Proposal (8). Study in these two research subjects will focus the students learning on understanding research methodologies, developing research questions, critiquing research literature, undertaking a comprehensive literature review, developing a research proposal and submitting an ethics application.
In the third year of study students will enrol in either HLT508 Health Master's Project (16) and 16 points of electives (16), OR HLT509 Health Master's Dissertation (32).
Graduate Certificate in Nursing (with specialisation) (32 points)

In order for students to graduate with the specialisations listed below, students must complete:
" First Year: 32 points of coursework subjects in the specific specialist strand in the first year.
" Second Year: NRS531 Critical Inquiry and Evidence Based Nursing Practice (16), HLT505 Research Methods in Health Science A (8) and HLT506 Health Master's Proposal (8)
" Third Year: Either HLT508 Health Master's Project (16) and 16 credit points of restricted electives OR HLT509 Health Master's Dissertation (32)
The current specialisations are:

" Master of Nursing (Chronic Care Nursing Practice)
" Master of Nursing (Leadership and Management)
" Master of Nursing (Clinical Education)
Students not meeting the specialisation requirements will graduate with a Master of Nursing.
