ASC407 Critical Reviews in Animal Science (8)

In this subject students will prepare a research plan/proposal which details the rationale, resources and plan for their chosen research project (to be undertaken in ASC516, ASC517, ASC532 or ASC533) and write a critical review of the literature topical for their research and career interests. The context of the literature reviewed may be as broad or as focused as is required to meet the demands of their research project .These may include aspects of animal production, conservation biology and wildlife management and the science underpinning these vocations.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to document the resource requirements to undertake a specific research project;
  • be able to justify the need for a specific research project based on existing literature;
  • be able to evaluate critically scientific publications in terms of content and experimental design;
  • be able to express criticism of publications succinctly in written format; and
  • be able to write a balanced review of the literature on specific area.
