This subject contains a 2 day Compulsory Residential School.
A series of tutorial sessions, workshops and Solution-Based programs will be run in order to provide a hands on approach to the theory taught in the subject.
This subject expands on the basic principles and application of feeding horses. The feeding of all horse classes will be studied in depth including an examination of nutritional problems that may arise. From this management strategies will be developed. The role of nutritional supplements and evaluation of commercial feedstuffs will be explored and least cost rations formulated. Topics such as toxic plants and dental health will also be covered.
For those studying by distance education, this subject has a compulsory residential school. During the residential school students will undertake tutorial workshops on feed evaluation and feeding techniques taught to internal students as well as participate in Solution-Based problem solving sessions designed to provide a hands-on approach to the theory taught in the subject.
