This subject considers issues that may confront a graduate medical scientist. Topics covered include methods of information retrieval from published literature and report writing. A literature survey on a selected topic from medical science will be presented both as a written report, a poster and an oral seminar.

Available only to students enrolled in the B Medical Science course, B Medical Science/ B Medical and Applied Biotechnology double degree program or postgraduate Respiratory Science students
The syllabus will cover the following topics: * information sources in medical science; abstracting journals, computer data bases, use of original articles and of reviews; * scientific writing and verbal presentation of information; * a substantial review of the scientific literature on a selected topic of medical science, presented both in written form, a poster and as an oral seminar.
