This subject introduces commercial radio as a specialised field of study. This subject explores the early formation and pioneering days of Australian radio progressing to the structure and operation of modern radio based media organisations, with specific reference to sales and promotion practices. Contemporary influences on the industry, such as digital radio, internet broadcasting, cross-media ownership, social media and narrow casting are also examined.
