Fully equipped simulated clinic and patient clinic. Registered clinicians must supervise students in these settings and sign-off clinical competencies when met.
This subject builds on the concepts and principles introduced in DOH100. The progression of oral disease and associated risk factors will be examined. Students will continue to develop their Oral Health Practitioner skills with an introduction to pain management, radiography and radiology application and nutrition analysis. Students will gain hands on experience as they are introduced to the patient clinic environment, so they can develop clinical proficiency in preparation for final year of clinical practice. Clinical placements are a compulsory component of this subject. Students will provide preventative, educational, and therapeutic oral health care services to the community. Students will continue to build on their ethical and professional attributes, and begin to apply an holistic approach to patient care.
