This subject will provide students with the opportunity to engage with health issues impacting on different population groups within the community and consider health promotion strategies for addressing them in schools. The subject explores the nature of young people's lives and how their priorities, values, actions and the broader social contexts in which they operate influence their meanings of health. Health status and risk taking are explored using health advocacy and social justice principles to create significance beyond the classroom, at the individual and community level with a focus on the priority issues of road safety and drug use.
