EMH419 Curriculum Studies: Society & Environment (8)

This subject prepares students to teach in the Key Learning Area of primary Human Society and Its Environment. The subject aims to give students an understanding of the rationale for teaching, the skills touse the relevant syllabus document and wider research, an understanding of the inquiry process and knowledge and understanding of practical approaches for teaching HSIE in the classroom.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • teaching and learning HSIE in primary classrooms;
  • inquiry based learning experiences;
  • project based learning;
  • place based learning in HSIE;
  • assessment in HSIE;
  • the diverse HSIE classroom; and
  • reflective teaching in HSIE.
