This workplace experience must take place in an approved ESL/EFL setting. It is of 20 hours duration, six of which must be in face-to-face teaching context.
This subject builds on understandings of the nature of effective pedagogical practices that encompass teaching, learning, and assessment in ESL/EFL classrooms. Students will undertake a 20-hour professional experience program, of which 6 hours must be in a face-to-face teaching context. During this experience they will be expected to critically integrate theory and practice in relation to ESL/EFL classroom management issues while exploring a range of second language acquisition teaching styles and methods to accommodate varying learning needs and contexts. Students are required to undertake ESL/EFL classroom observation, team teaching, and independent teaching to demonstrate their progress as an ESL/EFL teacher. Students are also required to develop their skills of professional reflective practice.
