ESA516 Leading Learning in Early Childhood (8)

This subject introduces students to the literature encompassing the field of educational leadership, and provides an overview of organisational structures and the diversity of leadership roles in early childhood services and schools. Principles of effective leadership and management are interrogated according to philosophical, ethical and historical strands which underpin educational leadership as a field, and the application of these to Early Childhood contexts. It analyses key trends, legislation, government policies and regulation in the field, both globally and across a number of Anglophone nations, such as Australia, Canada, USA, and the United Kingdom. In so doing, it provides a critical examination of theories of educational leadership and their purpose within Early Childhood Leadership as a profession in the 21st Century.
