This subject introduces students to the education of young children with diverse learning needs. It aims to critically examine the historical influence of inclusion policy in Australia and its impact on early intervention and inclusion. Child and family-centred inclusive practice will be considered with a focus on supporting families in decision making and planning for early intervention, and the impact of intervention on families. The subject emphasises the need for collaboration and the ability to work with other professionals. Models, practices and teaching strategies to support inclusion in the early childhood curriculum will also be explored.
