This subject provides an introduction to theory and practice in the leadership role of a teacher librarian. Leadership theory is examined in the current global context of change and reform in school library organisation and services. Evolving views of educational leadership are examined with a particular emphasis on organisational culture, strategic and operational planning including disaster planning, managing for change, using policy and planning documents for advocacy and developing relationships within a 21st century school culture of inquiry.
