This is a research subject available only to students enrolled in an appropriate Higher Degree by Research within the School of Community Health. Students enrolled in this subject will work directly with their supervisory team to undertake an appropriate research project, culminating in completion of a thesis/dissertation to be submitted for examination.

This subject is available only to students enrolled in an appropriate Master by research degree in the School of Community Health with the approval of the Research Advisory Committee. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Be able to demonstrate an advanced level body of knowledge in the relevant field and a capacity to critically reflect on that knowledge and its application/s
  • Be able to develop a research hypothesis or question that is soundly embedded in the context of the current body of knowledge in the field
  • Be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to their field of research
  • Be able to demonstrate cognitive, technical and creative skills to investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information, problems and concepts and theorise and apply established theories to different bodies of knowledge and practice
  • Be able to disseminate their research via a range of media, and be able to coherently defend their work, to specialist and non-specialist audiences
  • Be able to apply knowledge and skills to plan and execute a piece of research that generates a substantial contribution to the field in the form of a research thesis
