This subject examines the theoretical and practical foundations for developing adaptive workforce capabilities in the context of change in the external and internal business environments of organisations. Topics covered include: dynamic capabilities, the strategic role of HRD, career management, the role of knowledge and information management in supporting workforce capabilities, and organisational learning. Students are encouraged to apply their learning in this subject through workplace application.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to develop strategies for linking the development of workforces to business goals;

  • be able to apply academic skills in mounting evidence-based argument relating to building organisational capabilities.
