Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to explain the theoretical aspects of a variety of sexual and asexual plant propagation techniques;
  • be able to describe the relative advantages and disadvantages of various plant propagation techniques; and
  • be able to accurately display practical proficiency in a variety of plant propagation techniques.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:

The uses, techniques and relative advantages and disadvantages of:
- seed propagation
- cuttings propagation
- layering
- budding and grafting - bench and field techniques
- propagation using bulbs, corms, tubers, etc
- tissue culture propagation

Residential School

This subject contains a 3 day Compulsory Residential School.The residential school provides a hands on approach to the theory taught.
