Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

This subject will cover the following topics:

-Topic 1: Federation: birth of a Nation? -Topic 2: Australians at War (1914-1918 and 1939-1945) -Topic 3: 'Australia Unlimited'-building and settling Australia in the twentieth century -Topic 4: Australians at home and work -Topic 5: Inclusion and exclusion: Aborigines, Catholics, Women, Homosexuals and Migrants -Topic 6: Australian political extremism in the twentieth century -Topic 7: 'Reds under the bed'. Australia in the Cold War (1945-1990) -Topic 8: Religion and Spirituality in Australia in the twentieth century -Topic 9: 'Bridging the gap between the rich and the poor'.
