MIN501 Guided Research in Ministry (16)

This subject is the guided research subject in the Master of Ministry course. Research is undertaken on an approved topic in a chosen field of professional ministry. The student will be expected to demonstrate the use of appropriate research methodology, critical reflection, and written and oral communication skills through the preparation and presentation of a substantial research paper.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the literature relevant to their research question
  • be able to reflect critically on the literature relevant to their research question
  • be able to demonstrate the practical application of their research findings to the professional practice of ministry
  • be able to demonstrate professional academic relationship skills through interaction with their supervisor
  • be able to demonstrate independent research, organisation, and written and oral communication skills through the preparation and presentation of a substantial research paper in the chosen field of professional ministry.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Development of a research question - the student, in consultation with the lecturer, will develop an appropriate research question in a chosen field of professional ministry
  • Guided reading, interpretation and analysis of texts
  • Ethics approval as appropriate
  • Regular communication between the student and the supervisor during the preparation of the paper.
