This subject introduces students to the profession of occupational therapy. Students will be introduced to occupation-based models and ways in which occupational therapists work with people who have, or are at risk of having, occupational performance issues. Students will extend their skills of occupation-based activity analysis by analysing the occupations and activities of other people, integrating their knowledge and understanding of the complex impact of the person-environment-occupation factors on occupational performance. Students will be introduced to practice-based occupation-focused assessment, and enabling skills and strategies that occupational therapists use when working with people who may be challenged in engaging in their valued occupations.
