In this foundation subject, students will be introduced to typical communication development across the lifespan. Students will participate in learning experiences to increase their awareness of the culturally and socially bound nature of human communication. This subject also introduces students to the Competency-Based Occupational Standards for Entry Level Speech Pathologists (Revised) (CBOS, 2011) and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Students will gain a foundation knowledge of the speech pathology profession and will develop beginning skills in speech pathology practice, as preparation for workplace learning.
