VPA209 Studio and Location Practice (8)

This subject exposes students to techniques and issues specific to drama produced in a television studio and outside broadcast envrionment. The subject offers the student advanced instruction in creating and producing dramatic productions with an emphasis on creative works. Students will undertake projects, which involve multi-camera production and outside produciton, from concept to final presentation.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to collaboratively produce multicamera television productions from concept to presentation
  • be able to demonstrate an understanding of the production elements in their major area of study
  • be able to function and apply practice skills gained in related theoretical subjects
  • be able to demonstrate an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the production team
  • be able to demonstrate an understanding of WHS practices and safety procedures
  • be able to demonstrate an understanding of the etiquette and workplace practices within the studio environment
  • be able to exercise a high level of critical judgement and problem solving as it applies to their selected field of study
  • be able to use a high level of effective communication as part of the creative and production process
  • be able to understand and meet their commitments to the other members of the production team
  • be able to contribute to a body of work in an outside broadcast location

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:

- advanced approaches to multi-camera drama production - advanced approaches to multi-camera outside broadcast production - creative methodologies in multi-camera production - professional production of creative works in a studio environment - maintaining professionalism from the production company - time management
