This subject aims to develop an understanding of sustainable development and establishes human service professionals as central players in the process of developing an environmentally sustainable society. Competing interests of science, economics and environment are examined, and social and ecological justice dimensions are analysed within a holistic sustainable development framework. Holistic approaches for re-envisioning and leading the process of sustainable development as part of human services practice are considered.
