This course can only be taken by part-time enrolment and has an actual duration of 2 years.
Normal course duration is the effective period of time taken to complete a course when studied Full-time (Full-time Equivalent Duration). Students are advised to consult the Enrolment Pattern for the actual length of study. Not all courses are offered in Full-time mode.
Applicants will:
Prospective students are responsible for obtaining a trainee position and are required to complete a Clinical Placement form confirming the position details and submit it with their application for entry to the course.
To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
The Graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasound comprises seven core subjects as follows:
MRS400 Principles of Ultrasound and Instrumentation
MRS401 Clinical Ultrasound Practice (16)
MRS543 Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound
MRS547 Vascular Ultrasound
MRS542 Superficial Parts and Paediatric Ultrasound
MRS545 Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
MRS546 Obstetric Ultrasound
Students are also required to be employed as a trainee in an approved ultrasound clinic or department for 3 days/week for the duration of the course and to work under the supervision of an Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) accredited supervisor or suitably qualified and experienced medical practitioner working in the clinical context.
