Methods for Environmental Data Analysis provides a practical introduction to the quantitative methods for environmental management and research. Environmental scientists spend considerable amounts of their time designing experimental and observational studies and evaluating existing data sets to develop solutions to the many environmental and natural resource issues facing Australia and the globe. It is often the case that there will be a need to analyse data sets to make predictions or forecasts to determine how resources are best allocated for future work. Researchers and managers must, therefore, be familiar with the types of data and how they are collected, common techniques for data analysis, and exploration and identification of patterns in data. There is no residential school associated with this subject. Students completing this subject have understanding of experimental and observational study design and the ability to interpret and communicate findings from environmental research clearly and coherently within a management context.
