BMS508 Research Proposal (8)

In this subject, a student learns preparation for research including writing an informative research proposal as well as completing ethics application(s) and other application(s) required. A comprehensive and critical literature review in the area of study is also done to give the student a deep and wide knowledge of the research topic. Student will be equipped with knowledge of the general requirements to carry out research, which is useful for example, in management and in teaching as well as in research supervisory role for undergraduates. This subject requires background in basic research statistics and research methodology.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Locate, review, appraise and synthesise academic literature relevant to a specific topic;
  • Identify a gap in the relevant literature and formulate a research question
  • Develop a research proposal, including completion of ethical requirements and other approvals required for research

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • writting a substantial review of the scientific literature on a selected topic;
  • writting a detailed proposal for a research project (including human/animal ethics considerations);
  • application of ethics and other necessary approval(s) from CSU and from authorities where the research will be done.
