Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to explain the range of tactics used by public relations practitioners;
  • be able to propose relevant tactics to implement a public relations campaign across any stakeholder communication channel;
  • be able to justify the choice of tactics appropriate to a public relations strategy;
  • be able to investigate and create content for contemporary public relations tactics; and
  • be able to explain the effectiveness of tactics in implementing strategy.


This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Contemporary tactics (writing, pitching, liaising, arranging, organising) in public relations practice
  • Written, oral and visual tactics for print, electronic, online, events and sponsorships
  • Writing for a range of communication interactions, internal, external and social
  • Planning, executing and managing tactics
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of tactics
