EEP425 Education in the 21st Century (8)

This subject focuses on and explores significant concepts and developments in the study and practice of education in the 21st century. Students' study, discussion and research is situated around the aims and purposes of education and where contemporary educational thought influences and affects educational practice. The subject explores contemporary educational ideas and some of the key impacts on educational development with a particular focus on digitization. Students will be able to critically evaluate existing knowledge and scholarship and identify theoretical perspectives in current practice. Students will then explore the impact of digital technology for education incorporating their understanding of current theoretical perspectives. Students will engage with concepts that include creativity, ubiquity and sharing and critically explore the effect of these concepts on emerging educational practice.
