This subject will advance students capacities to critically examine a selected educational issue from an international perspective. It will enable students to evaluate international practices which can contribute to strengthening their responses to a selected educational issue within their educational contexts. A period of intensive literature and research review will enable students to discern underlying philosophical assumptions and applications of theory to practice which stem from differing cultural, social, economic and political contexts.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to critically analyse educational issues from an international perspective;
  • be able to examine the need for educational leaders to understand educational issues from local and global perspectives;
  • be able to evaluate how differing cultural, social, economic and political factors can influence the development of solutions to educational issues;
  • be able to analyse underlying philosophical assumptions across cultural, social, economic and political contexts; and
  • be able to apply insight gained from international contexts to professional practice.
