In this subject, students study the latest advances in Risk Management by undertaking and reporting on a comprehensive literature search and analysis of recent advances influencing risk management, under the guidance of a supervisor appropriate to the area selected.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be aware of recent scientific and technological advances in the management of risk;
- have identified specific research and literature on recent advanced in emergency management;
- have analysed a comprehensive range of research and literature on recent advances in emergency management and have written an article suitable for submission to an appropriate professional journal.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:

- Application of knowledge of risk management to one of the following areas:
* Planning;
* Operations management; or
* Recovery Management.
- a selection of recent scientific and technological advances in Risk Management applications;
- presentation of findings in a well constructed paper that may be published.
