Issues and questions which arise from the student's professional practice provide the basis of the research thesis. From these an extended research proposal is developed by the candidate and defended by presentation to Faculty and peers (via Skype if overseas). Candidates also complete an ethics application (if required) for submission to the University. In both the proposal and ethics application candidates are expected to draw upon their previous literature review and research methods writing. This subject provides students with experience in writing for different audiences and purposes, for example their draft literature review must be reduced and crafted to fit the varying requirements of an ethics application and a research proposal.
