Advanced English Language 2 is designed to build upon the foundations established in Advanced English Language 1 (AE 1) developing learners confidence and competence in communicating in written and spoken English in a variety of personal and professional contexts. This subject will consolidate and further develop the key items of English grammar covered in AE1, most notably focusing on the roles that traditional and functional grammar play in expression of ideas, development of interpersonal language and text development. This subject will also develop pronunciation for both comprehension and clear expression, focusing on the importance of intelligibility and pronunciation to improve listening skills. Students will be assisted in diagnosing individual language learning and communication challenges, and supported to develop strategies for improved language learning. It will continue to foster autonomy in language learning.
