EMT446 Curriculum Method: Technologies (8)

This subject builds on earlier technology curriculum and pedagogy subjects. The focus in this subject is on the Years 7-12 TAS classroom and a broad range of Technologies subjects; agricultural, food, graphics, industrial, information and textiles technologies. It aims to assist pre-service teachers to construct scope and sequence plans, units of work, assessment plans and tasks that are challenging, engaging, and supportive of student learning. Particular attention will be devoted to the implementation of relevant syllabus and related support documents, quality teaching strategies and assessment design practices for a specific context with special needs. Students will study the syllabus associated with their specific area of discipline.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to analyse stage 5 and 6 TAS syllabi and support documents;
  • be able to plan a range of approaches to teaching and learning in TAS;
  • be able to implement the Quality Teaching principles, and Assessment for Learning;
  • be able to construct practical activities, units of work, and scope and sequence plans;
  • be able to evaluate and integrate ICT resources for TAS teaching;
  • be able to develop strategies for managing and supporting students completing projects;
  • be able to differentiate teaching and learning experiences; and
  • be able to design standards referenced assessment tasks, plans, and feedback.
