(i) Introductory Soil-Water-Plant relationship: An introduction to the principles of evapotranspiration , infiltration , water holding capacity etc necessary in irrigation scheduling. (ii) Introductory Fluid Mechanics : Bernoulli's equation ; fluid pressure and friction loss in pipes; Manning's equation for open channel flow ; pump selection. (iii) Practical System Design:- Design of Sprinkler irrigation and Micro/Drip irrigation. Use of Poly-Plot in Drip Irrigation design . (iv) Water Quality Control : Selection of filters and methods water treatment in drip irrigation system. Recycled water for irrigation (v) Automatic Controllers : Equipment used in automatic irrigation systems
