This subject requires the student to explore in some depth an area of interest in education, educational leadership or international education. Students will be required to identify appropriate methods for investigation of the issue, demonstrate an understanding of the processes of educational inquiry and submit a report of approximately 15,000 words.

- identify a research issue for investigation and a preferred method of researching; - review the evaluation process: observation, measurement, assessment, decision-making, educational culture, and ethics; - review different research designs: action research and the role of the practitioner, case study, survey, the experimental style, ethnography and the ethnographic style of research, the grounded theory approach, narrative inquiry and stories, focus groups; - critically review the relevant literature - prepare a plan for investigating the identified issue and gain ethical clearance for the project as required; - gather data; - analyse data; and, - write a thesis-like report of approximately 15000 words.
