IKC501 Indigenous Research Methods and Methodologies (8)

In this subject an Indigenist framework is applied to examine the colonial foundations of Western knowledge paradigms and research practices in relation to Indigenous Australian peoples. It will develop students conceptual and theoretical knowledge on the value of decolonising and anti-colonial approaches to research with Indigenous peoples and / or research on issues of significance for Indigenous Australians. The subject will enable students to critically analyse their standpoint in a research context and review the critical use of Indigenous research principles and practices. The subject culminates in the formulation of a research project that responds to a research problem with relevance to students workplace or research.
