This subject provides an overview of knowledge management (KM) in an organisational context, and examines the motivators and drivers required to align a new KM project with organisational strategies. It will examine how organisations can adapt KM practices, progress to share this knowledge, and mature to develop new strategic directions. The impact of organisational culture and change management philosophies on KM implementation will demonstrate how the organisational knowledge is embedded in many aspects of the organisation, for example; in workers, processes, suppliers, customers, and so on. The processes and techniques used to capture and utilise organisational knowledge are included.
