This subject addresses risk management, both in the broader context and from an organisational perspective, and takes into consideration the pro-active and reactive measures which prevent or minimise risk in public and private sectors. It draws heavily upon the Australian and New Zealand Standard, AS/NZS ISO:31000:2009 Risk Management-Principles & Guidelines, and AS/NZS 4360:2004, when examining the risk management process. Students, drawing on their own experiences, examine how risk plays a crucial role in business decision making, the ways in which risk manifests itself over time and across activities, and the methods used in managing risk across organisational policies, practices, systems and processes.
