This subject presents an integrated approach to the theory, research and practice of the management of the change process. Students will develop and apply action plans that encompass diagnosis, interventions, implementation and institutionalisation.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to demonstrate a perspective on the theory and practice of organisational change;
  • be able to evaluate and apply appropriate techniques and methods for the diagnosis of external and internal pressures for change in organisations;
  • be able to develop action plans, targeting the level (individual, group and organisation) and types of change;
  • be able to assess political, cultural, structural and leadership factors in implementing change, taking into account the type, depth and scale of the change program; and
  • be able to formulate strategies for managing effective change including addressing resistance versus readiness, and change institutionalisation.
