This subject is designed to equip students with a keen appreciation of operations management - the "real work" of the enterprise or organisation. It extends into understanding how we can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our service and manufacturing operations in the global business environment, and details the strategic elements related to the field, such as a global orientation in sourcing resources, site selection, production and delivery and accommodating customer and environmental considerations. Various topics will focus on equipping students with a range of quantitative and qualitative tools and techniques that will permit the development of models in specific situations in manufacturing or service operations before developing relevant recommendations at strategic and operational levels.
