This subject covers the fundamental concepts and algorithms for geostatistical modelling and demonstrates their application in the geosciences. On completion, students should be able to select, apply, validate and evaluate appropriate geostatistical approaches to characterise and quantify spatial and spatiotemporal distributions of variables of interest. The subject incorporates the use of geographic information systems to integrate geostatistical techniques in the wider spatial sciences discipline.
