This subject aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge relating to the important phases of the seamless social policy process: social policy analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation. It critically discusses various models of policy analysis, planning and implementation, and methods of evaluation. The subject will analyse the influence of socio-economic and political factors on the above phases of the policy. It will also look at ways of developing new policies, overcoming resistance to change, promoting participation, and developing linkages at the community and institutional levels. By acquiring theoretical knowledge and developing practical skills, graduates will be able to effectively participate through any of the sectors (government, non-government, corporate and community) in the social policy process.
