Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the software and hardware used in digital music creation and manipulation;
  • be able to realise ideas for utilising sound and music in informational, artistic, educational and entertainment contexts; and
  • be able to appreciate and critically analyse sound and music in a range of contexts.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Appreciation and critical analysis of a range of historical and contemporary works utilising digital music creation and manipulation processes and techniques in a variety of contexts
  • Use of digital manipulation and creation processes and techniques in a range of contexts
  • Software and hardware used in digital music manipulation and creation processes and techniques

Special Resources

This subject is required to be taught using industry standard music technology software and hardware. At time of writing this is Room 205/ Building 21 in the School of Communication and Creative Industries.
