Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:

There is a compulsory seminar for the first 6 weeks of the subject. Beyond that there is no set curriculum but the project must fall within at least one of the specialist areas of communication and the performing arts offered in the undergraduate degrees. The seminar will focus on each candidate's preparation of a topic and a written proposal to be approved; both the written proposal and the approval are to be completed within the first 8 weeks of the first session of the course. For candidates undertaking the creative professional project, the proposal must include a budget and the approval process will include consideration of the resource implications of the project. The proposal must be presented to an appropriately constituted panel within the relevant school, and signed-off by the presiding officer of the panel (normally the course coordinator). The panel will set limits for production in terms of duration and resources.
The creative project may be a piece of work offered to or commissioned by a body or individual inside or external to the University, either pro bono or on a cost recovery basis, provided it falls within the limits set by the panel. While production of the work may be within an agency or theatre company model, involving other undergraduate students, the candidate must have creative control of the work.
