INF408 Professional Placement (PG) (4)

This subject provides students with the opportunity to engage in a range of professional activities within an approved information agency for a period of 10 days under the supervision of a qualified information professional. Students will gain a deeper understanding of information organisations and apply their own skills and knowledge within a practical and collegial setting. The placement is aligned with the student's professional goals and the foundation knowledge, skills and attributes of the professional accrediting bodies.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to successfully complete a 10 day placement in a role that meets the professional standards required by accrediting bodies.

Workplace Learning

This subject contains a 10 days Compulsory Workplace Learning component.

Students complete a ten day placement with an approved host information organisation (i.e. libraries, archives, records management organisations etc.). The student is supervised by a qualified information professional while they are participating in a range of appropriate tasks in a real workplace context. The students reflect on their experience in a written assessment task.
