In particular, the subject introduces emerging internet technologies and then discusses topics such as network and data communication models. It covers Internet protocols and explores the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to present a basic knowledge of digital data;

  • be able to analyse the TCP/IP protocol;
  • be able to explain and apply IP addresses including IPv4 and IPv6; and;
  • be able to describe and evaluate emerging internet technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT).
